FAQs - Lichfield Friary Lawn Tennis Club

We have 6 floodlit artificial grass courts.
We publish a tennis programme for the summer and winter which shows who has priority use of the courts. However, if the courts are free, anyone is allowed to play at any time and no booking system is in operation. If all courts are taken doubles should be played with a change after each set.
Keys are available from Secretary, Gill McDonald, for a £10 refundable deposit. The combination for the padlocks will be issued by email.
No, the club provides tennis balls, which are included in the annual membership fee. 4 balls are available per court for seniors, these are kept in the basket on the wall in the clubhouse, and there is a plentiful supply of balls available for juniors in the porch of the clubhouse.
Tokens are available from any of the 5 ‘token-sellers’ listed in the clubhouse. Each token costs £2 and lasts for half an hour.
Anyone wishing to join the teams should let one of the Team Captains know of their interest. Squads are selected by ability at the beginning of each season, but new members will be added to existing squads whenever possible. Details of team captains are shown in the clubhouse.
Only recognised tennis clothing is to be worn. Rugby/football shirts/denim/beachwear are not permitted.
Yes, the club has a number of professional coaches, for both adults and juniors of any standard. Contact details for all the coaches and our coaching programme are available in our coaching section.
Certainly! Please sign your guest into the book in the clubhouse. A fee of £5 per adult per visit, £3 for students and £2 per junior is payable. A guest is limited to 5 visits per year.
